Rides Collective is a directory of classic car shows and a home for classic truck and car stories. This page explains what information we collect when you use ridescollective.com, why we collect it, and what we do with it. If you have a question, send us a message.
Information you give us
- Your account. When you create an account we store your name, username, email address and a securely encrypted password. You can add a short bio. We email you a link to confirm your address before the account can be used.
- Car show listings. Shows you submit are published in the directory after we review them, including the show details and photos you provide. Your account name is not shown publicly unless you choose to include it.
- Build submissions. When you submit a build we receive your name, email, Instagram handle (if you add one), city and state, details about the vehicle and your photos. We use them to decide whether to feature the build and to write the story. If we publish it, we credit you by name, Instagram handle and city. We never publish your email address.
- Comments. Comments show your display name and what you wrote. We keep the IP address the comment came from to help stop spam.
- Contact and newsletter forms. We keep what you send so we can reply, or so we can email you updates if you signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Information collected automatically
- Cookies. We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences.
- Site statistics. We may use Google Analytics, through Google Site Kit, to understand which pages are popular. It records things like the pages you visit, your browser and an approximate location.
- Spam protection. Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA, which looks at how the page is used to tell people from bots. Google’s privacy policy and terms apply.
- Maps. Show pages display maps from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address when the map loads.
How we use it
We use your information to run the site: publishing shows and stories, managing your account, replying to messages, preventing spam and abuse, and improving the site. We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that help us run the site, such as our web host (WP Engine), email delivery, and Google for statistics and spam protection, or when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep account information while your account is open. We keep build submissions and messages as long as we need them to respond or to feature your build, and published content stays up until it is removed. Comments stay with the article they were posted on.
Your choices
You can update your account details at any time. You can ask us to send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, including your account, comments and submissions, by contacting us.
Children
Rides Collective is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
